Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: On the Beach (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Location: Ocean City, Nj (at the fishing pier)
Date: Jul 15, 2006
Aperture: f/9
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/50
Galleries: Animals, Action
Date Uploaded: Jul 16, 2006

I'm going to be hammered for this I am sure, because it looks like I edited it with a program, when in fact this is straight out of camera (minus crop, resize, curves) I had others, but this one called out to me, and so I use it, and use it with pride, because I love to look at photography more artistically than technically (yes I still follow rules)

It was very overcast, which certainly worked here to give this that painterly feeling while I was panning. I also enjoy his subtle shadow along the water showing just how low he was flying.

I loved the movement in this picture. The presentation, tones and colours were superb. Mine was one of the 8s ;)

Great attempt at panning but the bird wins. Admittedly it shows speed and energy as is, but the eye always tries to find a sharp point somewhere in an image - this has none.
