I like this photo. Although I think the tones are a bit dull, and the image could have been a lot sharper - hyperfocal depth of field and sharp focus would have helped.
However, I really like how the leading line of the shore pulls your eye up through the dots of colour on the beach around the coastline. Also the dots of colour on the beach offset nicely against the bands of colour running down vertically (grass, sand, sea).
And I don't have a problem with the shoreline in the middle of the pic. The bands of sea colour are nicely balanced by the band of land colour. And the dots of people on the beach are balanced by the bathers in the water.
Maybe that centred composition wouldn't have looked as odd if the sky had been cropped away, and all that was left was the sea separated from the beach...
