this is a wonderful, wonderful shot, Manny.
I have to put this to you - your people portraits are superb!
GuGi said something that I'd like to second, quote below,
"You have what it takes to make people open up without the photographs becoming an invastion of their privacy"
The more I see of your work, the harder it is to find the words that convey what I would like to say without repeting myself.
You have what it takes to take good pictures of people, excellent even. You have what it takes to make people open up without the photographs becoming an invastion of their privacy. You have what it takes to bring out pride and joy, even though the surroundings might seem miserable to others.
You make our dpc-world a better place, you make the world a nicer place to be. Thank you for all the wonderful photographs you share with us. I'm lucky to share that team-logo with you :)
Proud to have another kababayan talent named Manny being recognized internationally..Ive been following the great feedbacks from your seminars at OWG too at Digital Photographer Philippines forums moderated by Ross..
Is this another hard-to-resist Goodman shot? ;-) Amazing contrast. They look almost metallic. There's some pink on the forehead of the boy on the right, who has a bat in his eyes. Looking forward to seeing what lens you used.
I hope you get the blue. you or that poor woodie. you distort the children visually but never lose their humanity. I suppose they should get some of the credit for that! wonderful, dynamic, human picture. 9
what I like:
Their expressions of course! Handsome young men having what looks to be the time of their lives - the sign of a very talented photographer. The lighting is gorgeous.
What I don't like:
I wish I could see more of the boy on the left behind the closest boy. Actually if the closest boy wasn't in the shot I think it would have been better. It does add a certain amount of frenzied mayhem to the photo (which is good in a shot like this) but in this case I think it detracts a bit too much from the boys in the background. The other thing (and I know it's a style and a matter of personal preference) is the desat grunge look. On many photos it works great and I really like it - but I've been seeing it on similar kids to these a lot lately. These kids are so alive and full of energy - I want to see the life! Which means I want some color! They are almost bronze statues here - break 'em out of the shell :)
Absolutely gorgeous picture. Love almost everything about it... the only thing I don“t love is the strange light in some of the eyes, specially the one in the down right corner... But as I said... Veeery nice indeed... - 9
This is a wonderful image with a great title. I'm not one that normally goes for the this type of shot but you have done it perfectly. Its a ten in my book. Great work.
this is amazing. i caught myself counting the kids, and then saying "there's 12 eyes! sheesh!" than, seeing the absolute beautify of the image. very well done, and A+ composition. good luck w/ this poetic image :)
Ohhhhhhhhhh. . .look at this! This is AWESOME! I love the texture and the "in your face" composition! Yep. This is my favorite in this challenge. Gotta be one of the ribbon winners. Just has to be.
simple and adorable. meets challenge perfectly. i was hoping for some original interpretations that just sat on the fringe of meeting the challenge (but leaning more toward free study). it's perfect in my book! 10
Lovely. Beautiful post processing and well captured expressions. Though I can see 10 eyes but I feel 5 faces aould have made it more obvious. Still a 10 for me.
This is just awesome..... absolutely awesome, in every sense of what an image can and should be. You have such a wonderful eye to photography, and with this image, you definately deserve to win a ribbon.....
Again awesome, just awesome..... A "10" from me.....
