Nothing really special here. Just a spiral notebook which I thought created interesting lines if I bend it a certain way.
Natural daylighting used for this shot. The colors are due to the cover of the notebook and my table beyond. Shot in RAW and processed with RSE. Adjusted levels and Hue and Saturation bringing out the warm colors. Sharpen. Ran through NI to remove grain and noise. Slight USM. 20 pixel stroke. Save for web.
Bummer about the no cloning clause. I tried my best to remove the dust and cat hair prior to shooting but the acetate cover of the notebook just attracts dust like crazy. I hope that doesn't matter too much to the voters.
I really like the shallow DOF used here with the end of the spiral blurring out. Let's see where this goes.

Congrats on your top 10 Rikki. It has only happened a couple of times but I am always honored to be on the same page as one of your shots. And always a pleasure to banter in the threads. Lets do it again real soon. :)
This is one of only two images that I rated a 10, and I honestly like this one just a little bit better. I love the lines, the colour, the lighting, the dof. It's just... yummy. It really is. It wouldn't be the same image without the S curve, and actually, I think this is the first time I've really *noticed* that an S curve really *makes* the image. Also, the shadow is awesome. This whole image is awesome, and you deserve to eat some cookies or something 'cause this is really great.
I like how you composed the shot with the spiral starting out at the top left corner which is setup to allow you to read this from left to right. My only nitpick is the very tight DOF. Personally, I would have liked to see a bit wider DOF maybe from the left corner down to the middle and then the rest OOF.
i love it! brings back old memories! *the way we were soundtrack: memories... light the corners of my mind...* i'd give you an 11, but they just have the voting till 10. 10 PLUS PLUS!
Good concept. Nicely composed, and effective use of lighting. I would have experimented with maybe a slightly broader depth of field, if conditions allowed.
