Loris Capirossi on the Ducati Desmosedici (V4 Desmo engine). The Desmo system pushes the valve open, but also forces it shut again. It doesn't rely on a valve spring to close the valve. The advantage is that you can run higher revs with better valve timing so that the valve will not hit the piston at high piston and valve speeds. The Ducati V4 is said to be the most powerful engine on the MotoGP grid.
