bw conversion uses fotoman's method of hue/sat layers (adjusted to use in GIMP)
copy bg layer 3 times
top layer desaturate->layermode color->100% opacity
2nd layer->layermode hue->hue -143->50% opacity
3rd layer->layermode saturation->sat +10->75% opacity
flatten image

Hey, that was a neat method of applying it to Gimp. I wouldn't have thought to do it this way.
