The only thing I don't like about this photo is that you can see me sitting on the floor taking the photograph! I find it a bit distracting and I am curious if other people will -- but do I go about it without me in it?

Solid photo, no glare spots on the bucket (very good job!) and still the lighting is good. A bit overly centered again....I like the face on the handle latch...might have been a good macro subject.
To answer your question in the Photographer's Comments...same way you fool birds, build a blind.
