Good choice of content. I'm feeling like you need to crop in from the left. The tall tree is framing the building nicely, but then you have this gap of blue sky that holds the eye and keeps it from focusing on the house. On location, moving closer and to the right would help. This is also a good candidate for some more post processing. Looks like it is straight out of the camera.
Boost the contrast. Darken the corners, particularly in the sky.
good work.
i would have liked to see the steps the main subject in the forground with destroyed house in the backgruond. the trash in the forground is destracting.
Wow, what devastation. Certainly meets the theme, good composition as well to show more elements around the house and not just the house itself. And the tree standing tall there sort of represents nature's triumph over man, don't you think?
This captures the word to a tee, what a twisted mess of homes and property, how sad for people, to bad they cant choose to live more inland, hard to do i am sure as living waterside is a wonderful thing, but, all things come with risk.
hopefully the rebuilding has started.
You captured this well therefore a high score for you.
you have a very interesting scene here, especially with that dismembered house. I would have liked to see this with a more grungier editing treatment maybe...to bring out that darker mood of desolation, to match the surroundings.
I already voted a while ago, now I'm back for commenting. I gave this picture a 10. I think it conveys the meaning well. The poor people that lost their homes must be quite desolate!
This could've been a nice photo if it got away from that 'snapshot' feel. It does not appear to have had much work in it, and that hurts it. Next time, try a different angle; the left part of the picture (sky and trees) do not add anything really, and could've been left out of the photo entirely.
Ah, what a very sad image. It's impossible to imagine what it must feel like to lose a home this way. You've done a good job of portraying it in such a way that I can in any case come closer to imagining the horror and sadness of such a catastrophe. I'm so glad you didn't clone out the telephone wires. The stairs, sitting there without a house could have a poem written about them.
