 I was travelling this weekend at Snæfellsnes photographing and went out early morning in heavy rain. This red stone caught my eye, it was alone far from other stones and totally different color.

Taken raw, cropped, cloned out a small stone in the sea, burned, resized, unsharp mask.

Good choice to crop out the sky accross the top of the pic. I dont get a great sense of desolation, maybe b/c of the green grass??????

I like where you placed the forground rock. Maybe bump up the saturation just a little bit
