 I had been scrambling (mentally) to find a suitable monument to shoot for this challenge, and was on my way home from shooting a few family portraits for my brother in a neighboring town when this new monument just jumped out at me. I doubt I truly did it justice-- just too much to capture without a wide-angle lens. The backstop for the baseball diamond behind it made it even more difficult to get a truly outstanding shot. I wound up lying down on the concrete, shooting up toward the sky... I'm certain everyone driving by thought I was pretty odd!

Technical:
Minor crop, auto-levels adjustment, minor increase in contrast, resized for submission, and USM at 100%/1.5/15. Added the broad, white border to open the picture up a bit.

We went to this same place to shoot, but I didn't come up with anything. I didn't anyway as it turns out! I like your perspective. I'm surprised I didn't recognize this shot as I was voting.

Thought I'd add a few comments about the comments after the fact...

No flash was used for the shot-- perhaps the levels adjustments were a tad harsh on the bronze figure, though.

Tried very hard to get the "K" in the shot, but was unable to with the camera without losing so much of the bronze figure that it took away from the shot more than losing the letter K.

Flash lighting on this seesm to be a bit too sharp. I would have put more emphasis on the statue and less on the plaques. Interesting monument though

My thought here is to focus on one aspect, there seems to me to be 3 subjects and I am not sure where to focus.

Good. The cut off sentence and half a picture in the bottom left is a tad distracting though.
