2 - Whilst you have somewhat 'cheated' and also gone against the spirit of the Challenge by 'just using a frame/matt' - as a portrait this is not bad, however trying to get more 'expression' on Poppy's face, may have made this more special, as well as a more finely tuned crop, especially at the bottom. Overall, likely what you were aiming for, however doesn't really meet the Challenge strongly enough, in my opinion.
HEE HEE - love the idea of this. The composition is good. Now, I think I'd have him take off the plaid shirt and ring. Both are distracting and don't add to the shot. The background color is kind of iffy for me too. If you did it in black and white, it might neutralize that and give it a bit more punch. His expression is priceless. ;~D
