Taken and Disney MGM - Their new Lights, Motors, Action, Extreme Action show. If you have the opportunity, it is a must-see.
This is midway through a 3-story drop. I chose a tight crop to emphasize the shadow, but the long view is really impressive.
Adjusted white balance and contrast, resized and sharpened.

Post-challenge notes.
First of all, a thank you to everyone.
A lot of people asked how I set up this shot. To be honest, it was pure luck. I was shooting some action sequences at the park and was shocked and thrilled when I realized the shadow was so striking.
For those interested, here are the sequence of photos shot of the fall.
finally, I went back and forth on what crop to enter. I really liked this one
,
but was afraid it looked too much like a trampoline shot.

Great captures. While I love the one you chose to enter I think I prefer the one that you say looks like a trampoline shot because it looks more like the shadow is trying to catch the original.
Excellent! Brings a smile! Very nicely done! Notice your votes distribution; only 16 people thought it was "average" or worse :-) Congrats on your ribbon!
Conratulations on your first ribbon Sam...feel's great don't it?!
I really thought this might win because of the unique quirkiness of the shot. Thanks for taking the time to make the explanation of how you shot it and for including the outtakes.
Great job Sam and congratulations on your first ribbon. I am glad there were no mystery 8+ scores out there and we both got to ribbon :). Its nice to see what you entered and lets try to do this again sometime.
Back to comment. What a fun image and a great title too. Very well done! Back to visit you again....I simply must bump you up a bit for a job well done. I can't wait to see how you did this.
Really quirky and certainly striking! I really love the texture and colours of the weathered building behind and the way they contrast with the inky black of the falling man.
Challenge: SHADOWS III
Description: Creatively capture a shadow Advanced Edit
Extreme Shadow Puppets
Fit: Epitomises the idea behind the challenge 2
Very clever indeed
Aesthetics: Well composed, aesthetically pleasing 2
I like thw ay the eye is drawn from the figure to the shadow and then half down to the open shuttered window
Technical: Technically well executed 2
Maybe it lacks a little detail in the figure?
Wow: Has some impact 1
A good picture that just feels a little flat - and I am not sure why.
Total Score = 7
I absolutely love this image and can hardly wait to find out how you managed this shot, as I am certain are countless others. A great photo which meets a the prescribed criteria, and executed to perfection.
OMG... things you do for a good picture hehe... Absolutely great picture, hope you post a description after the challenge -9 from me... Stunning colors.
WOW, you really pushed the limit ;) you deserve a high score.
EDIT: The arms pointing forwards as if you were falling rather than jumping would have enhanced the image a bit imo.
Brilliant. The muted and geometric background is visually appealing, but doesn't distract from the subject. And the shadow is prominent and sharp. The almost silhouetted shape is a strong and bold shape. Really eyecatching composition.
My thoughts: your model is good at trampoline jumping, the house has a European look, somewhere South, where it's hot, my guess would be France. But I could be so wrong. It's a marvellous photo in every way. 9 (I don't vote 10's, nor 1,2,3's).
i seriously hope that this is upside down, and it's just a bloke on a trampoline ,or even jumping... but the illusion works (style of the windows etc) so has been brilliantly executed. either that r the picture is the right way up, and the bloke has just been brilliantly executed. it's a really fun and creative shot that meets the challenge splendidly well. 9.
Wow, I haven't gotten very far in the voting yet but I can see this winning. It's so odd and intriguing! The colours are good, the repeating shapes/lines of the windows are good and then there's that falling person and shadow. I can't imagine what situation you'd find this in, but well seen and photographed!
Very cool work. I don't know how it was done, but I only hope he is alive after this shot.
("Take one... Fred. We have only one shot of this, so make sure you are falling parallel. I already called medics, so don't worry... 3..2...1... JUMP")
Shadow is nice but I am really impressed by the technique. Is this a jump into (sufficiently deep) water, or how is it done? If model dies from broken neck for every shot, I hope it didn't take too many shots/models to get this one!
