No, don't to this plz. They might be poor but they are not failures. Something else fails but not them basically.
The picture itself is not bad, but don't put it into this context please.
Way too small to be accurately judged; a shame, as the shot looked more than promising as a thumbnail. Also, a fill-flash might have helped this image immeasurably.
Without the title, this shot doesn't express anything to me. It's a child. Standing. Doing nothing of interest. His clothes are dirty. Little boys' clothes are frequently dirty, so that doesn't give me any information.
It looks like you have a really nice image here, but it is posted too small. As far as I can see, you composition and toning are great, but I can't make out detail. You only posted at about 40% of what's allowed. Always use the full resolution that is allowed. You will score much, much better.
I think this was a good attempt. Your lighting seems like it may have been good. This should be as big as DPC allows and, as far as I can tell, it is not in focus.
I have to say, I don't like the principle being expressed here, that a poor child is somehow a failure. Although I suppose he may FEEL like one, and that makes it real... Not affecting my score anyway, just something I wanted to mention.
It's a pity the image has been saved so small, we really can't see enough detail in the face to connect with this one.
