For those who asked what this is...
I live a couple of miles from a Mobil Refinery + fuel depot. The tanker ships pull in to ship their fuel.. There are about 30 of these giant fuel tanks, each about 3 stories tall. There is a similar photo in my portfolio, called oil
A nice use of negative space, and very striking. Side of a water tower or the like? At the same time that the number makes that clear, I could almost wish it weren't in the shot, as it distracts from the lines of the staircase. This is still one of my favorites from this challenge.
Great shot, I love the light and shadow here. Shame about the wide-angle distortion, I wish we could correct it in Photoshop. Effective exposure, great composition. 8
That should be a 1 on the side there - to indicate its place in the challenge results! Excellent shot with real drama created by the sheer scale of the scene. My favourite in the challenge and my ONLY 10! Good luck for a ribbon with this - it's creative and the work of a true artist.
I tried looking at this picture upside down, and the result is pretty interesting. It looks like a schematic diagram for some funky do-it-yourself furniture. Really nice, interesting pic - viewed sideways, upside down, or as it is. How many pictures can look that good when viewed from all sides :) ?
