First Impression - the most important one: My partner does this to me and I hate him for it.
Composition: Needs more on the left of the person .. or less on the right as it seems a bit off balance to me .... this is of course just my opionion. I have also learn today of the potential of vignetteing ... not that sure that it added a great deal to this picture.
Subject: meets the challenge .. and I am glad the bloke you are photographing found it good as well.
Technical (Colour and light): Good DOF ... and great colours .. I like the natural lighting of course.
To grow its vote?: Take a look at the stuff that was top ten .. they all focused entirely on the person .. this one is top ten to me it focuses on the person in their environment.
Summary: Good work .. keep it up ... :)

ROFL.....you got my best side.,,lol. Really like the processing, the crop leads you well through out the shot. Funny thing is the surfer your shot is leading to is the guy I used in the challenge.....Nice
Sorry but I am not really digging the severe vignetting in this shot, and that is coming frome, I am a huge fan of adding vignetting afterwards, just look at my "road" entry for example. Just doesn´t seem to fit with this image as the subject is in the corner and the vignetting thus serves to drag the attention towards the middle of the photo. Still a nice shot, got a 6 from me.
This has powerful beginnings but the shallow DOF bugs me. I tried to see it as a feature of the shot by isolating him but I kept coming back to what he is doing ands wanted then to see it as well
