 Concrete manhole cover of an oil well. Looking straight down into it. Was full of oil covered water, reflecting light that looked like stars.

The small thumbnail wasn't very appealing, so I waited to vote on it until after I judged some others. BUT WOW am I glad I opened this one. The detail is excellent, the exposure and tonal range is beautiful. Great job.

I'm not sure what this is and the negative space isn't the wow of the photo to me.

interesting shadows but there are white specks that confuse the issue for me...stars? dust? points of light?

Interesting shot. But the little specs in the black detracted from it. Clean the lens!

I gave this one a lot of contemplation, I don't think this is a shot that can be appreciated in 5 seconds. It definitely leaves me wanting to know what it is, the viewer has to use their imagination to make the best of it. I like to see it as a porthole into space... Superb textures and composition, great use of light and shadow. Very good clarity. 8
