Nice photo. The pebbles in the foreground contrasted with the very still water makes this interesting to look at. The ruins of the pier fit the challenge well.

Yes this is desolation. The blue blackground gives much to it. I would try to find a spot to get the most blue of it and get rid of the ground to increase the feeling.

Excellent shot, but the beach is quite intrusive and I would have cropped it all out. Flash is a little too intense, which is emphasised by the pebbles.

This is nearly my top rated pic. I can't make up my mind about it - the garish blue is unsettling and knowledge of the history of destruction is also a factor. Well done for being provocative!
