It looks like you used the flash which blowed the higlights. Try using something to bounce the light from the flash instead, like a white paper. Plus, not complementary.
2 - Don't mind the composition and, despite the somewhat harsh lighting, adds something, as complements the 'sheer' texture of the orchids petals. Ultimately though, I'm seeing purple and green, and a slightly unusual green at that, so doesn't meet the Challenge in my opinion.
An interesting composition. I think you've got good focus but the lighting is a little harsh. Maybe the use of a polarizer might have helped to bring out the colour and texture of the leaves.
Lighting is really harsh and I don't see any significant amounts of yellow or red, which according to the challenge details would be the complimentary colors to purple or green respectively.
