Thanks for all the high votes. I did get 14 ones and twos also !
I will post a "how I did it by the weekend".
Hint...it IS a picture of a picture and does follow the rules of "Literal photographic representations of existing works of art" rule. Before you try this for a challenge, make sure you understand the rule!
Even though it was a picture of a picture my added hand and brush make it a legal entry.
Not as easy as it sounds because of the "dual" nature of the "negative/possitive" aspects of the shot.
Check my portfolio this weekend. I'll try to have the file "as captured" in my portfolio.

Was it legal at the time? Also...what would have to be done to this type of shot under current rules to make it legal?
Thanks
Edit: I just read the rule again. I can't be sure but I think it is the same as it was when I entered this photo.
Artwork: Literal photographic representations of existing works of art (including your own) are not considered acceptable submissions, however creative depictions or interpretations are permissible. This includes, but is not limited to paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, computer artwork, computer monitors, and televisions. A literal representation is one which is composed in such a way as to compel the voter to rate only the work of art represented and not the artistic decisions made by the photographer (e.g., lighting, composition, background elements, etc).
Judging by the current rule I just posted it seems that my cat should still pass the test...however, my guess is that it would be a DQ.

As much as you have been posting this shot lately, I think it's worth mentioning that it would very likely NOT be legal under the current rules.
People would be inclined to vote on the photographic qualities of the cat, which makes the picture-of-a-picture concept illegal here. Just adding a hand or other minor element to a picture-of-a-picture is no longer legal.

This is a very creative photograph; however, I feel that it would be more powerful if the cat were more isolated—as in the branches(?) on the right are distracting. Very nice job!
Absolutely fantastic. I'm waiting with anticipation to find out how this was done. (I'm glad that this was vailidated, otherwise I wouln't have believed it.)
Although I am interested to know how you did this, I want to say that I don't care for the composition, balance, or subject placement. I think the same techniques applied differently would have been more aesthetically pleasing or interesting.
Please, please tell us how you achieved this after voting is over. It is wonderful. Very creative, good composition, sharp and interesting. Bravo. Deserving of a ribbon I think.
