I like how the colors are washed out. I also like the curtains. it all contributes to the mood, even the new building hiding in the background contributes as antagonist.

very nice - I like the rust or whatever it is that's red on the hotel sign. Contrasts well with the grey of the hotel and the newer building in the background. The curtains give a little mystery, too.
