This is my son a few weeks before his first birthday. He wasn't much of a talker (he didn't really start talking until he was about 2 years old) but he was expressive as hell and already knew what the camera was at this age. He is clearly mugging right at the lens. This would have been shot with my old Minolta x370, probably with the inexpensive zoom lens I bought off a friend. I'm not much of a techie so I don't even remember the brand name. I probably used Kodak gold 200 or maybe 400 speed film. Sometimes I would use Agfa or Fuji once I was getting the occasional freebie from a friend who worked at a small camera shop (sadly long out of business). I just took what he gave me.This is an old scan from a small print. Seeing that nice blurred background is really making me hanker for a digital slr. I cannot get a good blurred background in anything but macro shots with my Minolta diMage 200.
Around this time in my photography, my kids were pretty much my main subject since they were constantly with me. By age 23 I was the mother of three kids all born 14 months apart (Irish twins!). To be honest, they are still my favorite subject and most of my highest scoring entries involove them. :D
