I really liked the color combination between the yellow and the purples as well as the layout of the shot. Overall though the noise and grain on the shot was just abit too much for my tastes. That would be my only complaint.
I really like the soft but colorful background. The flower could stand to be a little sharper on the top edge, but that's really hard for me to get so I can't, unfortunately, say how to do it better. Still this is a very pleasing image and meets the challenge very well without being only yellow
This almost has a '35mm film' feel about it. Nicely done. Something about the saturation and the grain in the purples.
Good lighting and focus. I can't really think of any suggestions to make on the technicals. Composition works well here to draw the eye to the centre of the flower.
But I really like that background, the yellow and purple are beautiful together.
I would have been proud of this shot myself. I love the composition and the flow of the image and think that the blue/yellow contrast works really well. The background is a bit noisy (maybe some NeatImage on that?) and, as others have said, I think that the low score is more a reflection of the numbers of flowers submitted rather than the image per se.
This is a very pleasing image - nice color, nice composition as well. What post processing software are you using? With the 20D, you shouldn't be seeing that much grain, I'd not think, unless it was a very small portion of the total image.
The background is noisy and somehow the purple looks a bit overprocessed to me. Other than that, good composition, nice choice of subject (although I think you probably suffered from low scores simply because there were SO MANY flowers in this challenge, including mine, which suffered similarly). I like the detail in the flower's center.
Simple and beautiful. Nice lighting. Excellent choice of background to highlight your subject. Focus is great, maybe a tad too sharpened, looks a little noisy as well in some of the background areas. Other than that I think its great. 6.
