A Silver Birch (Betula Alba) that is one of four hanging over our driveway as they are starting to turn into their Autumn (Fall) colours.
Shot in the home studio using one tungsten flood on the right which highlights the edges of the leaves plus a foamcore reflector on the left which gives the leaves their soft surface texture. I took many many shots of this as the positioning of the reflector and general bracketing of the exposure produced so many different lighting results but.
This one I favoured was really the effect I was after, showing the translucence and delicacy of leaves as they end their summer life and have done their job for their parent.
No neat image, a little dodge on a couple of highlights and that's it.
I am expecting to get comments about over-sharpening because of the halos around the leaf edges. These are deliberate, I placed the light to do that as it gives them form, texture and a 3D quality. The one sharpen after resize is just the obligatory very minor one to compensate for the JPEG reduction.
