I would have tried to focus on the garden and not on the chicken-wire fence. Because the fence is in focus, it looks like it is the subject of your photo...

Interesting effect by focusing on the fence. The fence probably needs to be a bit more substantial to make this work since the eye is constantly drawn to the out of focus wheelbarrow.

l ike the dof, with the fence in focus and not the garden. it makes it seem more abandoned, specially with the wheelbarrow fallen over like that.
