I was in the park shooting bees on flowers, when this beautiful butterfly landed. I was not even thinking about this weeks challenge. It was hard to get any good shots because I was so worried it would fly away. Didn't check the background, just got lucky. The bright sun was a little too harsh, but I love how it back lit the wings.

Very pretty subject. Sharpness is good and I like the stained glass effect, but it makes the shot seem a little dark. Perhaps a 1/2 stop more might have fixed this. I like the composition, too.
Beautiful capture, that is not an easy shot to get, and you nailed it! you rarely see a swallowtail that perfect this time of year, so you had luck on your side also.
Makes me want to see the full-resolution image.
It is superior in numerous ways. Composition and cropping of the image is perfect. The flower complements your subject by adding color and interest to the image. It supports your subject both literally and photographically. The position, lighting and angle of the camera gives the monarch a majestic quality.
Amazing shot! Is that a flower I see??? Hmmm... yes it is! For that you get a 1 !!! ;-) Just kidding. But I did decide to dock off 5 points for every flower I see so... from a 9 to a 4.
Nicely cropped, effective blend of colours. Impressive dof... background is nicely blurred, ALL of the flower is fairly sharp! Interesting textures, quite delicate in feel which fits with your subject. 9
