My son, reaching for a lightbulb. Set the camera to bulb mode. Cut the lights off. Son posed, camera fired, manually fired a flash, "painted" the lightbulb to make it brighter, stopped exposure.

Post processing -- Brightness/Contrast adjusted. Converted to greyscale. Colorized it to warm it up a bit. Resized, submitted.

I figure the viewers that "get it" will like it, those that don't won't. :) The point -- As a teacher, there are moments when I can almost see the lightbulb come on. It is indeed almost a magical moment. After struggling to teach a concept to a child that just isn't getting it, then all of a sudden they have the "AHA" moment, the teacher is almost in tears. It doesn't happen to me often, but when it does, I wish I could capture it on "film" (or memory card) because it is awesome.

The model is 4 yo travis from Canton. He works for jellybeans. He gets one jellybean for each exposure, then when he gets tired, I double his pay. He got 9 tonight. ;)

Wish this had been advanced editing, and I could have gotten rid of the little light trail on the lightbulb.

Great thinking but the picture is not clear enough to get this extra wow moment.

hehehe, very cool :-) Very clever idea. It took me a second to get it, then my own little lightbulb went on :-P I hope you don't suffer from speed voter-itis. Maybe you were going for soft focus, kind of looks like it, but I'm thinking for this particular image, maybe sharper might make it a little stronger. B/w works ok, it was done nicely, but color may be nice in this case also. The composition works. Overall, not a bad execution of a very good idea IMO. Nice job :-)

I'm not sure that this says "education" to me - neither image nor title - perhaps I don't "get it" - wouldn't be the first time! Focus is a little soft in certain spots but good use of B&W :)

Good idea. I might have composed the shot to hid the two lines near the lightbulb... add to the mystery.

Too bad I can see the rope that is tying the bulb. But otherwise, this is an exceptional and bright image ;)

Very clever take on the subject and nice execution techinically. Maybe a bit too contrasty, but still a good job.
