I chose bifocals, since I have a few sitting around, and feathers. The bifocals and bicyle idea did not work out too well. The feather is a peacok feather that I shot some time ago. I took the image and layered several copies of it on to an enlarged canvas so there were two rows of 4 (or eight all together) of the image. I displayed the multiple image on my computer monitor. Took a pile of heavy books and set them in front of the monitor and placed a RainX (yes, Ron, I know all about RainX) treated piece of mirror on top of the books. Placed an old pair of glasses on the mirror and put water drops with an eyedropper in behind the lense. The camera was in macro mode with a 10x close up filter, manual focus and on a table top tripod.
Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue saturation. Sharpen. I burnt the barely visible reflection of the bottom of the rim of the glasses at the bottom of the image. Then I healed a billion and half hot pixels.I toyed with using NeatImage but found the detail loss was not acceptable, so the noise is still there. Sorry. I also wanted to clone out the relection of the temple on the bottom right, but did not want to get into any major component business, so I left it.
Another noisy, water drop shot...oy...what was I thinking.

I might give this another try, perhaps, the set up is not awful to deal with. But I hope you all do understand about this focus thing...it's a bit tough when your dealing with the camera lense, the close up filter and then two different areas of the lense prescription....I think...course if the prescription was the same for both areas...they probably would not be bi-focals.....hmmmm.
First Impression:
Busy! Eyes dropped to the large water drop front and centre, up to the dark area near the top, around to the left, back to the front water drop.
Composition:
I feel it’s too busy, with too much out of focus. The black areas on the screen are distracting in the bifocals as well as in the water drops. I like the colours.
My eyes kept following the glasses frame around, looking for what was in focus.
Subject:
Clever use of bifocals and feathers. Meets challenge. Speed voters may have had trouble!
Technical:
Find DOF too shallow. If you could have brought the frame and some water drops in focus, your picture would have really “popped”
Thanks for your comments describing what you did pre and post. Gives me a much better idea what your intentions were.
Sorry, I don’t understand your reference to RainX
Summary:
Congratulations on your 76% placement, and getting a score above your average.
The drops, while not entriely in focus, creates texture and added layering to this beauty. Rimless glasses would have instantly made this a top notch image. Bumping up.
