My first ever submission with an image NOT taken with a challenge in mind.
On a weeks holiday in the high country on the NSW/Vic border and every night we come back to our cabin to see what we have shot during the day. While perousing that days shoot, my buddy Andy saw this image & said \"You got your literary adventure shot!\", it took a moment, then I realised.
PP: Did vinette in camera raw, then used PSCS2 for levels, USM, crop & resize.

This is a wonderful capture. I rated this very high and hoped it would do well. Dissapointed to see it this far down, deserves a much higher placing, imo.
Stunning by simplicity, great contrast (butterfly against the iron). Personally i would not put it in the center (maybe more to the right?) but you probably were \"out of crop\" allready ;). (10)
quite a few papillon images in this challenge. I think that this is the best of the bunch.
The centered butterflie works well and the background is fantastic.

Good luck
Such a shame the butterfly isn't more of the central subject, although the juxtaposition of the beauty of the butteryfly and the viciousness and starkness of the barbed wire is perfect for the book.
I like the soft tones here - it makes a nice contrast to the 'sharpness' implied by the barbed wire. Compositionally a little weak but not bad - I like the centering of the butterfly but am not wild about the position of the wire.
I like this (more each time I view it). Simple shot, well executed and I love the bokeh and angle of the wire. My only thought would maybe be to have the butterfly a bit off centre?
