I have that feeling about this one - another fifth place coming on?
Not a selective de-sat image, of course - I wonder if I've left enough tonality in the walls to make that clear? Not that the faces oughtn't to be a dead give-away. The woman is actually asking people to stop taking photographs - but what did she expect, taking them out with those bright red uniforms to such a grey, stone place?

Nice one Ed - result! Let's hope they don't ban school uniforms otherwise you'll be left twiddling your thumbs next time you're out in the rain.
Lovely pure photo. By the way, how many others were taking photos? Was that woman shouting to a shoal of photographers or did the other person/people have brighter clothes and bigger lenses?! These things bother me ya know...
Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time, really pays off, eh? Wonderful image. Only in Europe or GB would you find a group of school children, dressed impecably in their uniforms! All standing, in the rain, fantastic reflections, cute pale faces, amid the sea of red, black and grays. Really wonderful. Brings back memories.
Kudos.
I remain,

I love finding naturally selected desaturation. Some people just don't understand how to dress themselves appropriately to disuade/attract photographers. Gosh the teachers even have matching red (and a nice touch of orange) bags. Glad to see this got the ribbon it deserved.
"but what did she expect, taking them out with those bright red uniforms to such a grey, stone place? "
lol...exactly my thoughts...
A wonderful candid capture. Excellent and congratulations!
Great picture. This was a well deserved blue. Very fortunate that the day was rainy for those nice reflections and vivid colors against the grey building.
I have you as one of my only two or three favorite photographers. I don't really add any anymore, but you have made a difference in my interpretation of photography. I happened to look at your ribbons and runner up finishes, and you must be the king of 4th and 5ths. Almost laughable, but then I look at those as successes anyway. You bring London to life, and I love London. Thanks.
Great image..even though it`s obviously not a selective desat, it does have that feel due to the image being largely red and grey.
Tell the truth Ed...you`re a closet desat man :)
Not surprised to see the teacher getting tough on anyone taking pics,I know from experience(taking sports shots at schools) that some children`s parents expressly forbid their kids from having their pictures taken..even in team shots.
Makes me wonder what kind of home life they have and how many hang-ups and phobias they will end up carrying with them through life.
Rant over, it only remains for me to congratulate you on your Blue.
Well Done.
Fascinating!! This is an image that captures the imagination....I ended up studying all those faces for ages. Congrats on your well deserved win Ed. Into my favs!
Awesome shot Ed, going for my favorites, I didn´t vote in this challenge but would have given this a 10, I am really starting to appreciate your street shots, you have really developed a style that I like. Keep it up buddy :)
Great and colorful shot! This one is great! Congratulations on being there at the time and having a camera;-) The rain adds important issue to this picture - do they wish they had the umbrella or...
Delightful..
great moment, perfectly captured...
you know this is my fav in this challenge..and anyone who votes it down will only do so because of pure envy..
adding to favs..
This was in our top 4. Love the shot and really like the use of red. And the fact that not a single one of them is looking at the teacher makes it hilarious. Beautiful pic. 9.
i really like the colors in this, i just wish the bag in the bottom left corner and the sign behind the second column weren't there. still, it's a great photo.
This is such a beautiful picture. The composition is perfect, the straight parallel lines work together in a very dynamic way, and those little bits of red punctuated by the woman with the umbrella just make it fascinating to look at. Great work! 10
one of my favorites in the lot, a very nice candid, their red uniforms work so well against the drab rainy day, which works very well for making the reflections on the sidewalk, very nice capture - good job :)
Classic image - is that Mary Poppins?! :-) Great find and wonderful capture. The colors against the gray walls are awesome. I really hope this one does well.
