When I first saw the challenge "Master of Disguise", my first thought was trying to capture the sadness we sometimes see & hear about, behind the face of a clown.....
I then new exactly what I wanted to do, so spent over an hour doing my husband Peters face with clown make-up, dramatising it a little re the "sadness" that I wanted to achieve. I have also used the famous song title "Send in the Clowns" as my title as well.....
I am so proud to have such a wonderful partner & friend who supports me 100 percent.
I do hope you enjoy my colorful portrait of a clown, who is in my book, a "Master of Disguise".

Wow..the colors just pop on this one. I think it was an excellent choice for the challenge on a few different levels. The expression, the whole idea of a clown, technically...all done very well. Your hubby must love you bunches! :)
Wanted to put this comment with the picture too:
I find this picture with a very crisp and good focus, the nose is clearly of a substance that is a bit blurry but it is not the focus at all. The lighting is also good and the colours are great, I gave it a 8 because of all that.
When people "voters" say I hate this and I hate that, they just shouldn't vote because they are clearly with prejustice (don't know the spelling of the word) and therefore can not take right decisions.
The same thing is with cat, dog or whatever photos. You can have a real good photo but it is voted down because someone doesn't like "that kind of photos"
I didn't realise you had the clown to yourself! - It looks like a candid shot you might have taken at a street party or something. Nice job on the make-up though.
Personally, if I had gone to the effort of doing the make-up I would have made the most of it by taking a shot full frame of his face, looking directly into the camera for full impact.
I read the thread you made about this picture and it made me see that I underscored it. I thought it was simply the clown makeup that made for the masquerade and gave it an average score, 5, but looking closer I see what you mean: the clown make-up is covering up a very sad demeanor. It's unfortunate that there are so many challenge entries that it's difficult to spend enough time with each shot. Shots like this deserve more time than that!
Eloquently said, Rikki! Unfortunately, when you have a group with several hundred members, you are going to have all kinds & tastes voting and making comments.
I thought this was beautiful. Refreshing & vibrant. So keep up the great work Shez!
For every few folks that do like an image, there are some that don't. Unfortunately it is something that we have to come to terms with.
With that said, I think this fits perfect for the challenge. The vibrant colors stand out and the expression on Peter's face is unmistakeable. Kinda like saying, "poor me. look at what my wife is doing". LOL!
Anyway, it seems just a tad oversharpened as seen in the flower on his chest. I like the overall feel of this image. All except for the red border. Had it been thinner, maybe 1 pixel, it would be better IMHO. FWIW, this one got an 8 from me ;)
