I used the camera's autoflash, there is also natural light coming from an east window that is a little above the height of her head.
The background is actually a set of green sheets - the flat was tacked to the bedroom wall, and the fitted draped over my daughter's bed.
No croping
Adjusted contrast and brightness
Converted to greyscale
USM
It's not great, I know - but it's my first submission, and I'm self-teaching.

I love this picture. Its a bit soft and I guess to some the background might be a bit distracting, if this had been advanced you could have darkened it some more. great lighting and a perfect expression. You might have wanted to shift the camera to the right some so she is on the left side of the frame, just because that is the way she is facing, kind of leads us out of the picture. Oh yes, and we must have the feet. I think this fits the challenge perfectly and poo on anyone who says otherwise :)
Without the title, which adds little to the photo, this is a lovely portrait shot of the tacker :) ... I think that she is lovely, but this does not meet the challenge to me ... I can't see what you think is there for all.
Someone loves the photographer! That is obvious!
The negative: horribly distracting background and give me that right heel.
The positive: great catchlight in the eyes, wonderful moment, and I actually like the overall framing of the shot if you'd drop it just a smidge (Note: the first time in my life I've used the word smidge! :) )
