It was a wonderful winter day (in Texas winter days are a real treat), and I had been taking photos for a work assignment. When I finished, I wasn't ready to go back in, so I headed off to my favorite place: the zoo. This is the first time ever I've been able to get a good shot of the tiger.

This image is PERFECT, Sandy. I was intriqued by the thumbnail, then pleased to see that the full-size was even better and pleased to see that it is yours! Well done, my friend.
Is it possible for an image to be too powerful!? I'm going to the San Diego Wild Animal Park this Sunday. Now I know what makes a great Tiger portrait.
this is a very beautiful picture! it would be very agrivating that you didn't get at least 3rd. once again i would have given you a 10. better luck next time.
Oh Sandy this is gorgeous - a wonderful picture made even better by the way you have drawn attention to the markings! I came over after seeing your comments and you have some fabulous photos. This one is definitely one of my favorites.
Don't know how I've missed commenting on this one... Such a fantastic capture! The tones really add to the image too - excellent choice. Well done & congratulations!
OMG this is one of the most outstanding pictures I have seen.....
The colors in the animals face, the colors of the picture overall... Simply great... Well done Sandy :o)Added this one to my faves ;o)
One good vote deserves another - though I doubt my tiger will finish as high as yours did. Doesn't have the pull that yours does, but I appreciate the vote and the comment all the same.
Wow Sandy. Stunning shot! I love it. And looking at your average given score you are about ready to reach 6.0. Fantasic job, your photo's are getting better and better.
Sandy! WOW!! This is an amazing shot! Avg vote by commenters 9+ and a 4th place in a Huge entry Is a fantastic finish and well deserved with this captivating image! Congratulations!
Way to go. Great near miss. Interesting, but I had all of the top five picks in my scoring methodology, and yours would have been number 2 behind the ultimate winner.
Let me know if you need some help with the Gallery.

Very nice textures and patterns. Picked a very nice subject. I find the top of the head to be a bit soft. But over all very nicely done. I gave it a 8.
This so ROCKS....."WOW"..... This just "POPS" out at you..... So impressive, so beautiful, and yes, also so "Regal" as well.....A magical image, and one of "my favorites" in this challenge....."Purrfect".....This so deserves a RIBBON for sure.....I never add images to "my favorites" until after the results, so that I also know who actually photographed the image as well. In this case I am adding it to "my favorites" NOW, as I really "LOVE" it that much.....
Your title says it all! This tiger certainly is regal. Extremly nice tones. The contrast between them is just incredible- especially around the eyes.
