I used two cd blanks that are used on the bottom of spindle packed cd's. I held the two cd's at different angles and adjusted the plane relative to the subject until I got a light milky type of transparency. I focused through the two center holes on the center of the flower. I cropped out as much of an adjacent flower as I could and maintain the aspect ratio.

very nice shot! looks like it was photographed through stained glass or something like that. i especially like how the center of the flower is sharp but the rest is blurred and even distorted. good colors as well.
I love the softness of this image. You have done a great job of creating a nice example of an 'impressionistic' painting, IMHO. I wonder what this image would look like with just the flower... Would it be possible to drape the background of this one with a dark cloth or something to let the flower really stand out? I originally scored this image with an 8 but after looking more closely, i think it deserves a 10. good shot! = 10 - jmsetzler
Very nice effect here. The colors are very delicate and yet well saturated. The soft focus effect on the outside edges make this photo one of my 10 best this week..hokie
The focus gives a most painterly quality. It's a gorgeous photo, regardless of how it fits within the challenge topic. Masterful handling of your tools.
wow, this is so moody and beautiful. the focus is perfect. I'm very glad the framing is off center. the warping and color added by whatever is between the lens and the flower is fabulous.
