If I had a single goal in photography, it would be this: to have someone look at a body of my work and say something like: "this looks like something Doisneau would have shot if he sucked". I don't even care to be as good as him, but to find the one image that makes one person thinks that Doisneau wouldn't vomit at the sight of my photo would be sublime.
This is a quotation from a biography I read of his life when I first started to take photography seriously:
"I never noticed time passing, I was too taken up with the spectacle afforded by my contemporaries, that gratuitous, never-ending show for which no ticket is needed, and when the occasion rose, I offered them, in passing, the ephemeral solace of an image."
The ability to catch a private moment in a public place...stealing that one second of time where the rest of the world no longer exists, and the subject is completely enveloped in whatever it is that's caught their attention; I believe that my friends, is the ephemeral solace of which he speaks.

I think you are right my friend. I aspire to capture such suchness. I gave this a 9 only because I felt the crop was too tight on the sides. No doubt it was the right choice with what you had to work with, but in a perfect world...
Doisneau, an admirable, and difficult choice to emulate. He is one of the best. A special high praise to you for introducing him to those who have been unfamiliar with his work. Your effort & comments - superior.
Well done P. I think this should have scored much higher having looked extensively at Doisneau's work.
Your photographers comments are as inspiring as the photo is itself.
I am quite confident you are well on your way to your own greatness as a photographer. You see things that are uniquely P'esque and you capture what you see so beautifully. You certainly have a flair for finding the romantic in the ordinary and I for one am grateful to experience these *ephemeral moments* through your eyes.
You are tooo hard on yourself, Pedro..This is a beautiful tribute, should have placed higher!. this is easily mistakeable for Doisneau. Clearly you share his romantic soul
Wonderful layering of images, people, expressions - complex and emotive, can guess that getting the lighting/angle conditions was a challenge. Wonderful.
You have a lot of very creative elements here. The model in the photograph look slike she is looking overe at the couple. Then you have the reflection of the couple in the glass. In fromt of that, you see the back of the couple looking forward. So wonderfully composed. Excellent wotk!!
Nice! There is so much going on in this image. The framing, the moment, and the story are perfect. I wish there wasn't the extra guy on the other side of the street in the reflection. Other than that, it's a great shot!
You picked a great tribute and you have been faithful to his style. No matter what your inspiration, this image is inspired. There are so many planes and elements it is in itself an outstanding picture
