For those curious about what it might be, yes, it is a tiny dam. Well, I wouldn't even call it a dam but it is at least used to block the water. (I think it is somehow used for directing salmon to a counting device of some sort. Or at least, that's my theory.)

I've been figuring out what this is from the very first moment, but I can't. maybe it's water, but that wouldn't make any sense. it looks like a close up of ... well.. something! with no title there's nothing to get a clue from.

I'm not really sure what this is - I keep looking but not sure. The shallow DOF is executed well, and I like the gray tones, also the textures. Just not sure what it is.
Did you forget to put a title on the shot? That might hurt your score but who knows. Anyway, like this shot a lot, the symbol reminds me of a sign of a local TV station. Composition is good and nice tonal range, good contrast. Enough for an 8 from me.

...a very intriguing image to say the least...beautiful contrast, light and tone...it looks like an aerial view of a grand waterfall, then it doesn't...very interesting!
I have no idea what this is, but I really like it. I'm a bit fan of abstracts and this one is excellent. The composition, and mix of shapes, lines, and mixture of dark/light work really well. Great shot. 10
