Hm. Well, quite frankly I feel like a bit of a sellout entering this. It already had lots of views and favourites, so I guess I sort of AM selling out. I struggled between this one and this one --> //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=158420.
Personally I prefer the wee Monk, because landscapes don't tend to do as much for me...I prefer photos with life and a story. But this is a competition and I might as well enter what I think more people will vote for. Why enter otherwise?
Anyway, the above photo was taken as I was landing at Narita flying in from Singapore. It was pretty lucky as I had just looked outside for the first time in 7 hours, only to see Fuji peeking over the clouds at me, and what I believe to be Chiba down below the clouds.
This photo does not do the scene justice. not even close.
thanks for lookin.

Pedro, just short of the top ten, you made your twenty though! Really love it, love your prespective and the positioning! awsome! and nice finnish!! 11 out of 829... Amazing!
I remember the first time you posted this on the forums. It was as gorgeous then as it is now. I really love the way Fuji is floating between heaven and earth. Just spectacular.
Remember seeing this at the end of the slideshow, hope to see this in the top 10. The light off the top of the clouds is amazing, and the eye just focuses to Mt. Fuji. The colors are just stunning, my goodness, I love this image.
You captured a great athmosphere in this photograph. It conveys to me the power and fragility of nature. I like how it is split into different levels. 10.
hehe... the same picture at the end of your thailand movie on our website... you fool me this wasn't in thailand lol... well done... I hope others will like too...8
You've got to be kidding me. That's beautiful. I thought I read somewhere that this out of an airplane window? The luck of some people! My only 10 so far.
I know I have seen this one before in the forums. I love this pic...it just looks so surreal. It is just amazing to me how the layer of clouds breaks up the top of the mountain from the city below.
well, I was going to respond to your PM, but I got to this first, so I'll just comment here ;)
Thanks for remembering my interest in getting a print of this at a custom size. Truth is, I'd probably have bugged you about it by now if my financial situation were still comfortable enough that I could patronize the arts. Things being as they are, I'd have to wait a while anyway, so there's certainly no rush.
What an unusual image! I really like the saturated colours. The miniscule detail of the city skyline works well against the powerful elements of nature represented by the clouds and by Mount Fuji itself. Lovely light!
