I think I would have drop the colour so it was just Black and White 9/10 ... wonder who he was and it's sad his family never knew what happening to him
Well done... a very poignant image! I think the subdued tone of the headstones in the background emphasizes the overall mood, and I wish the front headstone were similarly exposed. A slightly different (higher) angle might also have allowed a crop that eliminated the slightly distracting stones at the top of the frame. Overall, though, a fantastic image that meets the challenge well. --9
Dying unknown is levels more tragic than the war that caused it. Sad, but poignantly touches the challenge. It is a picture of riddles burried under stone markers that could easily stand in as question marks.
Why does sepia look so muddy sometimes? I wish this were sharper, maybe the whites white. and the darks black. There is a photo of a girl whispering to another girl that is much sharper. When this is over I'm going to get someone to explain it. This is a powerful image that suffers from "the muddies".
certainly fits. Nice composition. Is it a bit off focus?(might be intentional?)
This would be a great time for depth of field, so you can get both in focus together. Go for the higher aperture settings
Wow. I'm loathe to critique this as I like it so well but I wonder how this would look with only the front marker cropped in to the right and some grass on its left to make it asymmetrical. That way I think you'd get closer to a duotone color and you'd pickup some creative import with that.
I'd also like to see a shorter depth of field so that if you left the lefthand marker in the image it would be more out of focus. I think this would lend a signifigance to the marker in the foreground.
I do like this composition, though. I like the cropping and the coloration. What media did you capture it on? Did you get this idea and go looking for this shot or did you happen upon this shot and just submit it for the contest?
Good job.
