If the person had been unlit, so just the lines were exposed creating a `face` this would of been a lot more effective.. maybe even a finer grid would work better. Defintely something I might try at a later time. good idea, with better implementation it would be awesome.

Well that was fun! Thanks to everyone for the encouraging comments and votes. The effect was created using a data projector and a PowerPoint slide of a white grid.
