I love delicate and intimate nature of the shot. I think any family would love to have this print displayed in their home. Great job and congrats on your win, well deserved.
very sickly and wierd. Kissing your kids on the lips is wierd if you ask me.
You obviously don't have children. There is nothing weird or sick about it. There is a special love that comes with being a parent and this photographer has managed to capture the beauty of it.
I gave it a 10 during the challenge and am very excited that it won! Congrats on the WIN! A WONDERFUL PHOTO!
I love it!!! Absolutley beautiful!! In my book there is nothing sickly or weird about it at all. I kiss my kids on the lips all of the time. I saw this one and just fell in love with it. Keep up the good work!!!
I am about to be a new father of a baby girl. I see how my fiance loves her other three children. You have, in my opinion, managed to capture a mother's love as is possible with a camera lens. I would love to know how you captured this shot.
Sorry, I really don't mean anything against you or the model, but it does say a lot about society as a whole that a mother wouldn't be comfortable looking as natural as possible in a moment like this.
Sad really.. but that's just one opinion.
Oh my goodness!! I didn't take offense at all! Certainly I knew that the comments about makeup were more to the "societal" issue than the personal one! I understand your thoughts/feelings on this as my husband feels the same way. He would love to see all women look beautifully natural.
More pure love. This is one of the most perfect B&W shots I have seen on DPC. 10
I love when I get to quote myself, see I told you so.
This is so pretty and so artfully done even if some artsy people think it is too much or a sad statement. What we should strive for meritocracy in our photography? Please; this is, as I said, one of the most perfect B&W pictures I have ever seen on DPC. It is obvious you deserved the blue.
I looked at the times on the after challenge comments and thought - what the heck are you all doing up in the middle of the night?!!
Thanks for the votes, and for the great comments that kept my hopes for a good score alive all week.
There were a couple of comments about her makeup, which made me kind of laugh. I daresay that most women who were going to have a shot like this done, that they planned on hanging on their wall and looking at for the rest of their lives, would want to wear a little makeup!
In reality, all she had on was a little bit of eye makeup, and some lipstick. This woman has the most perfect skin I have ever seen, and is absolutely gorgeous, and obviously, is a wonderful model.

Hey-hey! What a wonderful way to start my day. Congratulations Linda! Sit down to eat breakfast in front of DPC and who do I see sitting with a BLUE ribbon? That's SO cool! Way to go!!!
Congratulations Linda. It's my dream to win one of those blue thingys! I guess there are only about 2 1/2 years to go. You are an inspiration in perserverance.

Yayyy! Linda! Congrats! This is a totally beautiful pic. I am glad to see the voters embrace the soft focus and give this lovely image the placing it deserves. Very well done :-)
CONGRATULATIONS..... So well deserved, and as I said in my comments made during the challenge. Nothing could, or should, beat this image, as it is just perfect for this challenge.....
I know this may sound odd, but I wish she didn't have so much make-up on. I don't feel it adds anything to what would otherwise be a wonderfully touching picture.
There is such a soft feel to this, the thumbnail makes it look really fuzzy but looking at the picture its perfect for this settign. The three of them are so good in this picture. Loved it. 10
Beautiful portrayal in this challenge.
After sitting here looking at this longer, I realize what's wrong - I like it too much and wish I could do such quality photography. Bravo (9)
Back for comments. The "mother" element is very strong and the hi-key treatment works very well. A great entry sure which will be popular with the voters.
This is the first image I opened, and also the first one I have commented on in this challenge. How do you beat this image, as it is just perfect...... Number one in my book, and deserves a ribbon for sure...... Emotional, Senious, Moving, Great Composition, Wonderful B/W tones, and also a Magic image as well..... I love it.
