This kind of sky always makes me melancholic. Isn't that odd? Really wonderful shot, Karen. Any idea why the locals call it that?
Post actions
HA! Where I grew up, we'd call it a buttermilk sky.

Wow, this is a heck of a shot! At last, I've now seen a shot of a statue that actually worked. :)

The sky really makes this picture work in a brilliant way. Great picture.

OMG, this is stunning. The way the clouds swirl out of the bush and rock apparently coaxed by the pan flute. It's about the moment and capturing it, this is pure gold.

I don't remember seeing this the first time, but the graph shows that I voted it a 9 then.

Some of the best clouds I've ever seen, is that a statue or a model?

With so many entries, I thought it would be hard to find something that would rise above the rest- this is it. Tremendous lighting and contrast. The clouds are great.

i like how you made teh statue a silhouette...9
Post actions
OK, this dramatic setup just works superbly. Can see why it's your favorite!

Amazing sky and good presentation in b&w. The statue in front adds a bit of interest, works together very well. 9

This isn't even close to being a nine, it should be a 20 but I can only go as high as a ten so there.

a magical feel to this, the only thing I can think of that would have made this even more perfect was if the bush on the left frame wasn't there - great shot regardless
Post actions
In my opinion, the best black and white entry in the challenge. The tonal range is perfect and the cloud highlighting could not be more dramatic... outstanding!

Majestic shot - great title. I like this one a lot.

Now that's a different and effective angle!

Wonderful dynamism and mystic! Would love to see this in colour after the challenge, especially for the clouds, while keeping the figure in silhouette. 8 for conjuring up an original idea.

There have been a lot discussions on the forums about the importance of titles. This is a very good photograph but the title brings real life to it. 9

I love this shot, it's really amazing. The sky, of course, is incredible with those clouds. The composition is fantastic, but it's the pose that is perfect and really makes the shot. The right hand, the arched back. It's Shakespearean, Greek. Wonderful image. 10.

Cool shot, vaery original, it's a shame about the trees, it would have looked awesome with only the boy and the sky

Cool composition and detail.

the clouds really do make this shot. it almost forms a pattern that leads your eye towards the statue. the only reservation i have is the inclusion of the tree to the left.
Post actions
A statue? This is the best representation of a statue I think I've ever seen. Your depiction adds drama, meaning, and story.
Post actions
This is great, the clouds are amazing, the silhoutte look magical against the sky. Outstanding! Good luck!
