self-portrait, wearing a necklace my daughter made me and an evening gown. (I hope the evening gown/fancy outfit idea comes across.)
Post processing: Vertical crop, resize, a little bit of blur tool on my chin & neck (because I don't have Neat Image for skin ;), cloned out a thread sticking up from the dress.

what a wonderful image. and so true. mine isn't old enough to do this for me yet, but i can't wait til he does. and, of course, i'll wear whatever he creates with pride!
Great take on the challenge. To be honest, missed the message entirely until I read the caption... hope that dosn't work against you with alot of the quick voting crowd... Well Done... :)
lol. brought back memories - lovely skin tone, the black in her top makes a great frame.. and the glint of her ear ring is the right finishing touch given the title, letting the child made necklace be the focal point..that all spells out mom to me .. nicely done!
I love the necklace. I think and this is just me that if you had done it with a childs hand either in the back as if closing it or in the front touching it, that it would be even more touching to me.
I keep coming back to this and I can't find anything I would change. It makes me feel exactly what I assume you intend - that a parent will put a child's simple feelings above their own. Nicely done.
Any of these photos that made me laugh were good. I remember making macarroni ashtrays for my parents...who didn't smoke. Maybe a bit too much highligh on her chest. Just a tad of a burn for that? The cropping is nice though. 8
I really like this idea. I am sure that the reason you cropped the picture this way is to draw attention to the necklace. I would rather have seen the whole face as well. It would have been nice to see the full facial expression on the mother. Her simple smile and a loving look in her eyes would have really added to the overall message you trying to get across to the viewer.
Decent effort here. The lighting is almost good enough, but fails to properly illuminate the models chin. I think some hair light from the right side would help this image immensely, highlighting the neckline and leading the eye to the necklace. Also, the light source is too low and close to the subject, causing the light "fall upward", fading in intensity from bottom to top. This is unnatural to my eye and casts a funny upward shadow on the necklace.
Still, it's a nifty idea and good execution. The cropping work is spot on and the necklace being nearly centered in the image works.
Ahh.. how true! Simple, but I love the contrast between the "little black dress" and pearl earrings and the hand made necklace. The dress seems a bit too bright in the corner for me. Nice job!
This is my favorite so far (of about 50 images viewed)! It's got warmth, humor, and good technical aspects: framing, color, and light. This just makes me smile a lot.
