This is my absolute favorite. The colors and lighting are perfect and it creates a great sense of wonder. I find myself looking at it quite a lot. It's amazing!
I can't belive it!!!!!!! The image seems to jump out from the screen with it's contrast, clarity, emotin and beautiful colours!!! A superb shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a really cool photo. I like it a lot. It's just the type of shot I'm interested in taking. I love the way you captured her facaial expression and the colors are absolutely breathtaking.
Great, dynamic composition with an excellent use of color - IMO, the bright, vibrant color is the main characteristic that makes this photo so great. Also, a great sense of depth is visualized as the viewer can perceive that her hand is in front of her face due to your use of a shallow DOF. The scarves serve to create a simple yet elegant frame to emphasize the subject even more. Technically, this photo is nearly perfect, and artisticly it's a beautiful work of art. Great job and congratulations on your blue ribbon.
Hello. You have a lovely image here and have been richly rewarded by our voters.
There is little I can tell you on how to "improve" this image, so with thanks for the opportunity to view it once again, I shall move on to the next image in the Critique Club queue.
Wonderful picture, you continue to be one of my favorite photographers. You work is truely great.
The only thing I wan't so keen on in this picture was the black background. It seemed to blend a bit too much with her outfit and made it feel a bit more like a stage shot.
I didn't get a chance to vote on this challenge but I would have voted this one highest. Congrats on another ribbon!
You are one of the most amazing photographers on this site! I would have thought this was deserving of the blue also. Maybe people are getting too familiar with your work and not being as generous with their scores because you are so damn good! I'd give it a 10+ everytime!
Very nice image (I'd have given you the blue). I'm curious about your lighting setup so, if you can find the time, I'd love a brief description of how you lit the shot. At any rate, well done!
East or West my GURU is the best :o)
Congratulations and very Happy New Year sir. Wishing that most of ribbons of 2006 will be in your pocket (actually I have no doubt about it).

Thanks everyone for voting. I am very thankful to Jung Min, a student for this shot. Indeed, I was inspired by the movie "Memoirs of the Geisha" and indeed, Jung Min is not a Japanese but Korean. She was wearing blue contact lens but I have to change the color in PS.
I also would like to thank SALLY, an art student, who helped me set up this shot.
this photo jumped out and bit me when i first saw it. beautiful artistically and technically. i had it at 10 and hoped for a blue, but not too shabby outcome ;-)
Wow, I so should of knew this was you Librodo, your people photos are second to none in my book. Congrats on your red ribbon, even though I thought you deserved the blue. Given the competition out there this time around, this one should be held in very, very high regard.
8 - Up from 7. The colors are very nice in this, as is the composition and also the pose. Criticism; my first thoughts on viewing this (and still are to some extent) are that this has more of a Korean (or 'other' Asian) type of 'style', than Japanese, but apologies if wrong. Looks slightly 'over neat-imaged' (again apologies if wrong), but 'works' nevertheless. Overall though, a very nice photograph. edit:typos
Back for comments. My favorite from the challenge. Great use of color, light and natural framing. The smoothing of the models skin looks a tad overdone for my personal taste but a great entry overall. Well done.
Lovely, lovely - the plastsic look of ther face and eyes is oh so like the japanese doll look. You colors are wonderful. I like how the red/orange forms a triangle composition.
wow, what a gorgeous capture of an asian beauty. Her skin looks both real, but porcelain. It's so well done, I can't tell how much post production is there. 10
Colors, lighting, framing are good. The whole image is good, especially the composition! The post processing has made the eyes look a little unreal though, especially the left eye, but other than that a good entry.
Great photo. I think the fact that the red of the scarf or curtain is the same as her lips really ties the photo together and makes for a wonderful visual.
Jung Min is very beautiful, Manny....sorry I did not get to comment at DIC. Love your composition. Is the lighting your reason for composing left to right....it just seems predominant in your images as opposed to right to left. Also the skin tones here do not seem as warm as the larger version. Still a delight!
A++++++, absolutely stunning job! This is my pick for the top spot, but don't get to excited, because I have an awkward taste sometimes. At any rate, you are my only 10 in the challenge, and I am not looking back. Good Luck, I will be rooting on you.
Pretty. I like the vivid colors, and the perfect focus. I might have cloned out the busy fabric patch on the lapel area of her kimono. It just is a tad distracting to me.
