Great shot - and good eye for spotting it. Certainly met the challenge well and paid off with a good score. Like r_vesper, I'd be interested to see what it looks like in B/W, but it's great as is. Nice work.
I like this. the composition is really nice. with the lack of real color it might be interesting to see in B&W, but you never know that might flatten it too much. I like the contrast of the smooth texture of the focused area with the complex textures in the blurred out background.
Such a small creature too - nice observation. Love the exposure and off-screen mystery. Horizon looks tilted but without doubt a nice shot. Improvements I would imagine could be:
> focus slightly further away to give both fore- and background blurring
> straighten horizon
> focus even closer (losing some sky) to show scale more dramatically
