Just came across this photo. It is very dizzying, so the effort you put into getting that feeling really paid off. I see you made the top ten, too. Good job!
Many people commented on the "correct" name of the phobia being ACROphobia. The Phobia List gives 4 names for fear of heights. I chose ALTOphobia, however I misspelled it as ALTIphobia. Here are the 4 names as listed on the Phobia List -- the site listed in the challenge description:
Acrophobia - Fear of heights.
Altophobia - Fear of heights.
Batophobia - Fear of heights or being close to high buildings.
Hypsiphobia - Fear of heights.
Similar phobias
Aeroacrophobia - Fear of open high places.
Catapedaphobia - Fear of jumping from high and low places.
I actually spent about 2.4-3 hours out in 40 degree (F) weather that day trying to find a tall structure that I could shoot from that top of. I was tempted to pay a visit to the manager of a downtown hotel and request some time on his roof, but I'm not much of a people person.
Wow. First submission 7th with a 6.5! Thank you all! And thanks for the comments.
the fear of hight is called Acrophobia, I think that's what you are trying to show. nice shot, I like how the pipe gives a leading line down the building.
7 - Good perspective and composition. Criticism; not much, looks like it needs 'straightening', but just may be the angle. Coloring is good, as are the 'elements'; people grouped, bus, etc. Maybe a slight crop variation may have helped make this even better, not sure.
If anything is going to work for this fear, it is an absolutely straight down shot. Excellent job with getting the DOF necessary to clearly see where one is going to land.
Do you mean "Altophobia"? Good thing it's such a great shot that I can easily overlook that. Gotta admit I got a touch of vertigo when I first pulled this up and this is the first image that evoked anything more than an eye-roll from me. Very well done.
