I was looking through all the 10's I've given and noticed I didnt comment on this one.
This picture is awesome. Just looking up there would be terrifying for any one with this phobia and you capture it very well.
The focus is perfect and the dark luring shadows in this dim forest are fantastic.
I take this shot all the time, can't help myself. It never comes out like this though! Wonderful detail and the coloration chosen was perfect for the challenge.
Yes it is great to see your images in the top ten! Congrats Wil! Love the colour and composition. As others mentioned the decision to keep the trees dark added to the eerie-ness. The branches seem to go on for ever and ever.
Congrats on your finish! Very well done photo. Processing is well done and certainly adds to the force of the scene. I really like the feel when viewing this shot - sometimes up and sometimes down. It just draws you in. Again, well done!
nice composition, though imo, it'd be better at sunrise/or moonlit for a more erie look...but still well done, just don't agree with the choice of background color
8 - Nice shot, perspective and toning. Criticism; difficult given the toning, but perhaps being able to see a bit of detail in the bark, etc - not sure though, as the silhouette effect is good. Perhaps wider may have given it a little extra, especially at this size and also for the 'phobia' effect. Up to 8 from 7. edit:changed 7 to 8 at the beginning of comment
This is exquisite. I've entered a remotely similar image before and gotten hammered for it. Yours is much stronger & more complex though. I hope you do well :-)
