Photographer’s Notes
I started out with an entirely different idea in mind; a needle stuck in the carpet with a working title of “Watch Your Step” or “Don’t Tread on Me.” However I wasn’t getting what I wanted.
So I began exploring reflections of a fabric sculpture in a steel ball. With basic editing I couldn’t get rid of my and the camera’s reflections. It was interesting, and I may come back to this in an advanced editing challenge. I took the ball out to the beach to try again, but no joy.
As I was walking back to the house, I found some flowers in my wife’s garden that had withered in the frost of winter. These seemed to show promise. I shot 50 different blooms, angles, backgrounds and lighting set-ups, many of which I am quite happy with. Here’s the best of the best. Enjoy.
