One of the flowering trees in our downtown boardwalk area. The dof is intentional. Focusing on the flowers with the city buildings in the background to send the expression of serenity in the mist of city life.

I like the idea you're going for here, but I think you need to do three things. The first two are related: get a little closer and find a slightly different angle to create a little bit more of a balance between plants and city. Don't know if it's possible or not to have done so. Last, because the flowers are in shadow, forcing your flash to go off (again, if possible) would have brightened them up and helped them match the rest of the shot. Right now, they're kind of dull and lifeless even though they're the main focus of the image.
Great use of DOF. Would have been nice if the sun was hitting the flower. The dang sun just never learns to pose! If you have access to this location at other times of day, you might want to revisit it.
Nice flowers :) The flowers seem to be the subject of this photo and the city is just an element of the background. I, personally, would have tried a little stronger city element. = 5 - jmsetzler
