It took the teamwork of three people to accomplish this shot that appears so simple in composition:-) The model, the photographer, and the individual holding up the black backdrop cloth.
A side note of interest I could not find an old candle holder like those pictured in use in the 1800's and early 1900's. So I made one: a tiny terra cotta plant pot, a small terra cotta plant pot saucer, and a door wreath hanger broken in half and curled at one end to provide the finger hold for the hand. Glue them all together and spray paint it with Antique Gold paint, put on a a small glass bead wreath and Ta-DA!

Love the expression on the little girls face, but again would have liked the image better without seeing the candle as the soft light giv such a lovely glow.
