Greetings from the Critique Club! : )
Congrats on the ribbon for this image. It's clear from the many comments you received that it's a real crowd pleaser in its colors and fun idea. Here are some of my observations, and I hope that they are helpful!
My initial thought upon viewing this image was: "Wow! What awesome colors! What a great contrast against the snow."
In terms of composition, there are a few things that make me go "hmmm." (And it's not about rules of thirds or cutting off feet...rules are to be applied when they work and broken when they don't, imho.) One thing I wonder about is "where's the pool?" Is the subject just sitting in a field of snow, is she supposed to be sitting next to something pool-related? The other thing I keep returning to (related) is the angle of her head. She's not looking at the camera from her head position, so what is she looking at? That pool element I was wondering about earlier? It makes me wonder what I'm missing...the way she's looking and grinning.
I love the way you were able to capture the vividness of the colors, along with the whiteness and DETAIL in the snow. You are to be congratulated for that. The snow adds some great texture to the image, and the choice of props (flower cap, towel, cup and straw) work very well. I like the choice of focus, allowing all that detail to shine.
With regard to the challenge, I thought it was a "too early" entry until I looked at the topic. This picture works well either way, imo.
What more can I say? The members have already spoken with their votes, and it's well-deserved. The image is vivid, energetic, creative, it makes me smile. Why didn't it blue? Voter capriciousness is my guess.
Congrats again on the ribbon, and especially for capturing such a novel and creative image for the challenge.

Well, I'm very happy and grateful to all of you folks who enjoyed our photo. We had the best time doing this shot and couldn't stop giggling. I had everything set up outside before hand so my little partner didn't freeze (for you people who were wondering). I only took six shots and we have a great memory to share and giggle about!
I didn't vote in this challenge, but probably would have given the photo an 8--and the model a 10! What a trooper. Great image--you did a great job at keeping as much detail in the snow as you did. Congratulations on your yellow snow image! Uh, so to speak...
You can see the kid is have the time of her life doing this picture. :) I love the colour in this shot it really makes it pop ! You have done a great job ! Good Luck in the challenge 10
Love the bathing cap! Do they still makes those crazy ones with the flowers on them? I used to have one when I was that age...it was the collest thing...cute picture and I hope you made it worth her while once ya got in! : }
Your pooooor model ... lol... and I thought I tortured mine. .. I like it good idea and good color and exposure.
Composition has a little to work on. Where's her feet? Make sure you don't cut off any limps in cropping. This is the single easiest way to ruin a composition. Also, move her a little to the left in the frame, that would provide more interest in the subject and help to contrast her against the snow (rule of thirds)....
What a great kid. I hope you rewarded her amply afterwards. The colors look really good against the white. Could have been improved if you had shown the feet.
Alright, the idea is brilliant, the colors and contrast are excellent .. The thing that would have improved this shot and moved it to the top score is the placement of the girl in the photo, the feet are cut at the bottom of the frame, I would've liked to see either the whole girl contained in the frame or the photo zoomed in a little more. Still a great shot, 9
