It took me a long time to debate how to photograph this challenge. All week it was either a shot before sunset or something along those lines.
Today at work, one of my co-workers mentioned that he was changing a light bulb and it shattered just as he touched it. Then the "light bulb" in my head lit up.
Very minimal post processing for this image. Just adjustment of levels and slight rotation to crop out the clamp that was holding the bulb. Used NI then sharpened. Save for web.
If this were only advanced editing :( So many spots to clone out including hot pixels. Oh well. I hope to break 5.75 for this image but we'll see what the voters say :)

I really thought this was clearly the best one to meet the challenge specifics. The "suspense" of what mayb have happened is clear in this image. Anticipation is key I think. I just read your setup and it's quite inventive. I have to try it when I get a dSLR :)
BTW, your title is great. It's the "icing on the cake". Your image speaks for itself on it's own. That in itself is a great accomplishment.
Rikki!!! I thought you were definitely going to beat me!! Sooo clooooseeee!!!! Congratulations for your top 5, this is a great photo, I hope to see you ribboning soon, keep it up!!
not sure how this picture relates to the challenge ( I can be dense sometimes) but the action is excellent .. you really captured the shot - - great timing!
this may have been unavoidable but I can see your reflection in the lightbulb. But the flipside to that is you can see a lot of detail. Very creative idea and well exicuted.
Wow! One of a handful entries that actually meets the challenge. I wonder how this image would look like if the bulb was lit. Great capture and motion blur. You have probably been asked about this but how many bulbs did you break to get this shot?
First one I've seen that actually followed the details of shooting the picture too early. Great job. I like the layout and action/motion in it. Good luck.
You have captured the movement really well, actually first class image, it should do very well in this challenge. I have given you avery high vote. Well done, super image.
